Sponges are very interesting animals. Although they do not have true tissues, they have a number of cooperating cell types. How do these different cell types cooperate in obtaining nutrients for the sponge?

What will be an ideal response?

The body wall of the sponge contains many pores lined with special choanocyte cells. These cells use their flagella to draw a current of water through the pores, catching the sponge's food on the cells' sticky collars. The water exits through an opening in the top of the sponge.
