Identify and define the four ethical principles of patient care as outlined by the NASW.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: The four ethical principles for patient care by NASW are 1) beneficence, 2) non-maleficence, 3) autonomy, and 4) justice. Beneficence means social workers should consider the benefits and burdens of treatment options to clients. Non-maleficence means that health care workers should do no harm. Autonomy means that social workers should respect a patient’s right to self-determination. Justice means that social workers should ensure justice and equal treatment in decision making about treatment.
