Reliability refers to the measurement consistency of a psychological test. Reliability can be assessed by calculating the correlation between two different administrations of a test. IQ tests today have been shown to be exceptionally reliable, with correlation coefficients ranging in the .90s.
Validity refers to the ability of a test to measure what it was designed to measure. An intelligence test could be said to have validity if performance on the test was correlated with performance on some criterion such as school or job performance.
