A behavioral approach might focus on a history of being reinforced for aggressive behavior, or on having witnessed media models being reinforced for aggressive behavior. A humanistic approach might suggest that violent students are often loners, of relatively low status, or powerless in their peer group and thus resort to drastic measures to gain power or control, or respect.
