In relation to Jean Piaget’s theory, describe the cognitive development of a four to eightmonthold infant
What will be an ideal response?
ANSWER: The infant has begun the third stage of sensorimotor development and is constructing the beginnings of concepts of objects separate from themselves. This stage is known as reproduction. This begins as empty repetition and develops into organized, goaldirected behavior. Piaget hypothesized that the concept of object permanence develops toward the end of the stage as infants purposefully search, either visually or manually, for interesting items.
