Describe the relationship between national and state or local parties, especially with regards to fundraising, money, and personnel.

What will be an ideal response?

National parties are weak and decentralized, though their fundraising ability has made them stronger in recent history. The state and local parties are much more numerous and have more diverse organizations. Local parties were once much stronger, but declined with the death of the machines. Now, they exist partly on their own power, but mostly with the financial support of the national parties. Local organizations now provide a lot of volunteers and activists to the national parties, recruited from local social movements. If social movements are the farm teams of the parties, the state and local parties are the minor leagues.?
