People in slums and squatter settlements usually lack access to clean water, electricity and sewers. They often are exposed to crowded, polluted and unsanitary conditions.For recognizing slums- Living conditions will improve if settlers feel that they have a permanent place to live and they can become productive tax paying citizens.Against- These slums are often located in hazardous areas that are unfit for dwelling. Until settlers can get themselves ‘back on their feet' these areas present an unsanitary eyesore.
