What are some of the things a storyteller can do to prevent or minimize disruptive interactions between children?

What will be an ideal response?

Answers will vary. In general, prevention of problem situations is the best approach. This can be done by carefully planning the reading lesson or storytime. A well-thought-out lesson includes attending to seating patterns, being prepared to make smooth transitions, providing motivation to attend to the story, and selecting stories that will capture the attention of the children. Involving children in the sharing of the story supports attentiveness. This can be done by having children repeat recurring lines. Occasionally calling on children by name to predict what might happen next is another useful strategy.
