What is the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit?
What will be an ideal response?
Patients recovering from the use of any type of anesthesia require a period of recovery due to the potential for post-anesthesia events such as respiratory arrest. Accordingly, hospitals regularly have a department called a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) wherein inpatients can recover while being monitored before a typical transfer to a Med/Surg unit. PACUs are also sometimes called recovery rooms.
