What amounts of foods should be served to young children? What foods should be avoided?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Offer 6 small meals throughout day sometimes works better with their small stomachs, 1 Tbs per year of age depending on child's appetite, want balance, avoid choking hazards-round, firm, sticky foods such as hot dog coins, candy, nuts, grapes, popcorn, peanut butter. To influence food habits/preference involve child in choosing and preparing their foods ,participate in nutrition education, offer foods multiple times with "1-bite-rule"-may take 15-20 exposures.Food jags (getting stuck on a food) is normal for kids, only be concerned when food they want all the time is high fat, high sugar, to deal with it, continue serving what they want knowing it's only temporary. Try to avoid giving attention for unwanted behaviors, refusing to eat-encourage them but let them go if they still won't eat;won't starve themselves, picky eating nagging or bribing gives them extra attention they want, continue to offer healthy options and they can pick what/how much to eat
