Define the four levels of measurement listed in your textbook. Then provide an example of each.

What will be an ideal response?

Nominal level of measurement: Variables whose values have no mathematical interpretation; they vary in kind or quality but not in amount. Example: Gender. Ordinal level of measurement: A measurement of a variable in which the numbers indicating a variable's values specify only the order of the cases, permitting "greater than" and "less than" distinctions. Example: What is level of importance do you think college students place on their academic grades? Interval level of measurement: A measurement of a variable in which the numbers indicating a variable's values represent fixed measurement units, but have no absolute, or fixed, zero point. How much do your friends disapprove of alcohol use? Ratio level of measurement represent fixed measuring units relative to an absolute zero point. Example: During the past 30 days, on how many days did you drink one or more drinks of an alcoholic beverage?
