A big part of how we see ourselves comes from the type of interactions we have with
other people. This begins at birth, with the names and nicknames we may be given, and
how the family communicates with us. The feedback we receive on our actions tells us
how well we are doing. We make inferences about ourselves based on how other people
treat us.
