Find a significant hydroelectric-power-generating plant in your state. Describe its location, its sources of water, and the power output in megawatts.

What will be an ideal response?

The first hydroelectric plant opened in 1895. The Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant,
located on the Niagara River near Niagara Falls, NY, was the largest station of its kind in
the world for a number of years. The current plant opened in 1995 and can generate 2,500
megawatts of power. The plant is unusual because it does not use a traditional reservoir.
Instead, it uses the water from the Niagara River. The plant does make use of the Lewiston
Dam, where it pumps water at night using surplus power. The dam can be used during
times of peak demand to supplement the river water.
