There are several migratory trends present within the Caribbean. The United States remains the largest destination for Caribbean migrants since it is the nearest major economic superpower. Many migrants prefer to go to the former colonial power (ex. Barbadians migrate to the United Kingdom, migrants from Martinique and Guadeloupe tend to go to France . Many migrants, having lived decades outside of the Caribbean, are returning home to reestablish roots with their former homeland.
