From Piaget’s theory, the first level of development is the sensorimotor stage, in which the infant moves through a series of accomplishments, going from primitive reflexes to purposeful manipulation of the environment. In this early stage, covering approximately the first two years of life, the child learns through sensory input and body movement, hence the term “sensory-motor.”
