There are several different types of interviews that can be used for employee selection. In a nondirective interview, the interviewer has great discretion in choosing questions. In a structured interview, there is an established set of questions to ask. In a situational interview, candidates are asked to respond to a hypothetical situation that might arise on the job. In a behavior description interview or BDI, candidates are asked how they have responded to situations in the past. In a panel interview, several members of the organization meet to interview each candidate.
