Discuss the advantages of a closed circulatory system, compared to an open circulatory system

What will be an ideal response?

Closed circulatory systems can be more easily controlled so that blood may be shunted to where it is needed most, it can be pumped at a higher pressure (important in very tall or long animals), and therefore is more efficient than an open circulatory system. Is it not surprising that a clam has an open circulatory system, while related mollusks, the squid and octopods have closed circulatory systems, allowing a more active lifestyle.
