Answers will vary. Participative decision making occurs when individuals who are affected by decisions influence the making of those decisions. Participation buffers employees from the negative experiences of organizational politics. Participation in decisions such as how technology is developed has also been found to affect employee's attitudes toward the technology and how they use it. In addition, participative management has been found to increase employee creativity, job satisfaction, and productivity.As our economy becomes increasingly based on knowledge work and as new technologies make it easier for decentralized decision makers to connect, participative decision making will undoubtedly increase.
