Testosterone is the most abundant and biologically active of all the male sex hormones. During puberty, testosterone causes the development of the male sexual characteristics that include enlargement of the external genitalia, large body muscles, deepening of the voice, body hair on the face and in the axillary and genital areas, and sexual drive. Testosterone also stimulates the maturation of spermatozoa.
