A modern database is a very powerful tool, capable of performing complex searches and calculations. Some applications allow the law office staff to use a database for managing cases, client contacts, client conflicts, billing, and litigation support. These programs are user-friendly, allowing members of the legal team to enter relevant information into input forms. When creating a customized database, a good start is deciding what data needs to collected and organized. For example, the user should decide what pieces of information should be collected in each client record. Databases are usually built by the IT staff, but the legal team must communicate to them what the database needs to accomplish.
