Provide an example of evidence based practice.
What will be an ideal response?
Gowers (2006) provides evidence-based practice information for counseling
adolescents with eating disorders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is interesting to note
that Gowers (2006) states that the research evidence for the treatment of bulimia nervosa using
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is relatively good, and it is considered to be the “gold standard
treatment” for this condition. However, he notes that the research evidence for using Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy with anorexia nervosa is less clear, and there needs to be further research
before this can be considered the gold standard.
