Your text describes several kinds of nontraditional family configurations. Identify and explain three of these. Illustrate your explanations with examples.
What will be an ideal response?
Students can choose three of the different nontraditional family configurations: contemporary nuclear, multigenerational, gay- and lesbian-headed, and single parent households. An example of a contemporary nuclear family is a husband who stays at home to take care of the kids and a wife who is the primary breadwinner. An example of a multigenerational family might include a grandmother, a mother, and a son living under the same roof. An example of a gay- and lesbian-headed family might be two married women whose children are biologically related to one of them through artificial insemination (or a previous heterosexual relationship). A single parent household might be a widower taking care of his children after his wife’s passing.
