In what ways might partners of color feel exoticized?

What will be an ideal response?

Answers may vary but students should discuss that racism can be present even within close interracial relationships. Partners may feel objectified in ways that are dehumanizing. White partners may see their partner of color as an "exception." For example, "I don't usually date Asians, but . . ." or "Hispanics aren't necessarily my type, but you're not like the rest of them . . ." Just because an individual identifies as belonging to a minority group does not mean that they do not hold onto prejudices about other minority groups. LGBT folks of color may feel a sense of double-oppression as they hold more than one minority status.
