Discuss the three problems that have been noted with the scientist–practitioner training approach.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: One problem has been identified as the possible lack of effective training in research and scientific methods, which results in minimal scholarship activity by practitioners (Szymanski et al., 2007). A second problem that has been identified is the question of how useful and applicable research reported in the literature may be to actual practice (Hoshmand & Polkinghorne, 1992). A third problem that has been suggested as one that limits the use of research in practice is the appropriateness of research designs and whether they represent sterile, controlled research laboratories or the natural environment.
