What is unit management and how does it contribute to the management of a prison?

What will be an ideal response?

• Unit management is a way to organize a prison into smaller components, decentralize the authority to manage the inmate population, and make staff more accessible to the inmate population. Units are typically based on housing assignments. Casework and other unit staff members are assigned and located within the housing unit to be accessible and deal directly with inmates and are given the authority to make decisions and manage the unit.
