What are the differences and similarities among material requirements planning, manufacturing resource planning, and enterprise resource planning systems?

What will be an ideal response?

The materials requirement planning (MRP) system can be considered a subset of the manufacturing resource planning (MRP II) system, containing all of the production-related capabilities without the tie-in to the company's financial and other core and supporting process systems. The MRP II system could be considered a subset of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, containing everything an ERP system has without the single source of data, streamlined data flows, and availability of a wealth of real-time information for all employees.
