What mineral do women need less supplementation of after menopause and why do they need less of this mineral?
What will be an ideal response?
Women need less iron. Iron is lost in the menses and large amounts of iron are required during pregnancy and lactation. During this period of time deficiencies in iron can make a woman anemic and her children retarded, thus the need for supplementation. Once a woman passes her reproductive years, excess iron can actually be toxic for her.
