Please discuss three different kinds of developmental and follow-up effects of child physical abuse on victims.

What will be an ideal response?

One follow-up effect is physical problems. Child maltreatment victims have greater inflammatory response to stress and higher likelihood of disorders such as visual impairment, motor deficits, and epilepsy. Another is functional and structural brain differences in child abuse victims. Stronger response to negative stimuli within the amygdala has been linked with child maltreatment. Additionally, they may have excessive emotional reactivity and poor regulatory ability. Finally, child maltreatment has psychosocial functioning consequences as well. Individuals that have been victims of abuse are more likely to behave aggressively, have associated cognitive and affective profile, and to perpetrate violence later in life.
