What would you tell your friend to do to reduce his or her stress level the day before an interview? The day of the interview?
Consider brainstorming a list of "survival tips" in class. Ask the class which actions on "the day before" would be better to handle several days before the interview.
The day before: Assemble (or check) your portfolio items (including extra copies of your resume) and practice using them; assemble your interview survival kit. Assemble and check your outfit. Plan your trip (make sure you know how to get to the interview and how long it will take; where you will park, etc.). Look over your completed Career Action worksheets, such as your interview Q&A list in CA 10-3 . Get enough sleep!
The day of the interview: Eat breakfast. Make sure you know the name of the person you are meeting with and practice your handshake and practice introducing yourself. Practice giving your 30-second commercial. Call someone for a last-minute morale boost. Take everything with you. Leave on time.
