Differentiate between act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. In your answer identify which of the two forms seem most closely aligned with a duty-oriented form of reasoning

Act utilitarianism is a process wherein the individual makes the decision by listing the possible alternatives for action, weighing each potential decision in regard to the amount of pleasure or utility it provides, and selecting the course of action that maximizes pleasure. Rule utilitarianism is somewhat similar to duty-oriented reasoning in that it applies a rule or principle. However, in rule utilitarianism the rule or principle has been previously validated by the principle of utility.
