Answer each of the following questions: (a) Which of these single-subject designs is most feasible for the typical social worker in the evaluation of practice: the AB design, the limited AB design, or the ABC design? (b) Explain why this one is most feasible. (c) What is the most important limitation of this design?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: The limited AB design is the one that is probably the most feasible because it requires only one baseline measurement of target behavior which can often be done in the initial contact with the client. Both the AB design and the ABC design require repeated measurements of target behavior during the baseline period which is often not feasible for the typical social worker who often does not have the opportunity to interact with a potential client in such a way as to facilitate this measurement. The most important limitation of this design is that it does not control for maturation as a threat to internal validity because it includes only one measurement during the baseline period.
