• The MTA Cooperative Group Study was conducted in 2007 and was an outcome-oriented research (intervention-focused) longitudinal study. Included 579 children who were diagnosed with ADHD and received some form of treatment including medication management, intensive behavioral treatment, a combined approach, and community care.
• Strong support for medication management was found, as well as some additional support for a combined intervention (medication and behavioral treatment).
• Differential results were found regarding treatment and specific behavior improvement (e.g., behavior treatments improved homework performance).
• Also demonstrated need for early and sustained intervention
• Application – early and sustained intervention; combined use of medication and behavioral treatment
