Describe differences between core literacy programs and other literacy approaches adopted by schools and districts

What will be an ideal response?

Instructional approaches to teach the language arts in schools and districts are selected for a variety of reasons. Some districts require a core literacy program, a published comprehensive classroom literacy program that includes daily plans for teaching. In the past, these have been called basal programs. Other districts expect teachers to implement reading and writing workshops. Some organize reading instruction into literature units or use a combination of several approaches. With the adoption of the common core, some districts are emphasizing self-regulated strategy development and genre writing.
