What are the two important points must be kept in mind when building and/or testing a diode in a live circuit?

What will be an ideal response?

1) A current-limiting resistor must be put in series with the diode(s) to prevent excessive current from destroying the diode(s). This resistor is often designated RS and usually has a value from @ 270 ohms to 1 k ohm.
2) In order to calculate the total current (IT) in a diode circuit, go to the resistor. This is because when the diode is forward biased and is conducting, it acts like a wire that has almost 0 ohm resistance. We can’t use Ohm’s Law to figure the current through the diode because division by 0 is not undefined.
