Discuss how the United States can benefit from fully embracing multiculturalism.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: The melting pot should be discussed and critiqued. Assimilation is necessary to define. Although the dominant culture in the United States has adopted aspects of various ethnic and racial groups’ culture into the mainstream culture, these racial minority groups still have parts of their culture that are ignored in the dominant culture. For example, holidays that Latinos and African Americans celebrate in their cultures are not present or represented on the dominant U.S. calendar. Fully embracing multiculturalism would allow for these groups’ culture to be recognized and celebrated in the same way that American holidays are observed. Other examples may be used.
