What are the two conditions that must exist for differential validity to exist?
What will be an ideal response?
Differential validity exists when (1) there is a significant difference between the validity coefficients obtained for two subgroups (e.g., ethnicity or gender) and (2) the correlations found in one or both of these groups are significantly different from zero. Related to, but different from, differential validity is single-group validity, in which a given predictor exhibits validity significantly different from zero for one group only, and there is no significant difference between the two validity coefficients.
