What will be an ideal response?
The Inquisition was a tool used to expel or convert all non-Christian Spaniards. Focus was initially on the Muslims, who were first converted by means of friendly persuasion but later by force. Jews were also targeted by the Inquisition. The goal was to convert all Jews, but in 1492 Ferdinand and Isabella issued an edict of expulsion for those who did not convert to Christianity. The Inquisition identified Spain as a champion of Christianity.
