International nongovernmental organization (INGO): an international organization established by agreements between the individuals or private organizations making up its membership and existing to fulfill an explicit mission. Example of INGO is the Islamic Relief Worldwide which gives food and medical supplies to persons in need. An example of an IGO is the United Nations, which was developed to protect human rights.
