Why would reading expressively be more predictive of reading success in later grades as opposed to primary grades?

What will be an ideal response?

Reading in primary grades is often word by word, making expression difficult; expression is an indicator of comprehension, and an older reader is more capable of handling reading while thinking at the same time. Older readers analyze texts faster than do primary readers.
