What should a paralegal’s response be to a client’s question about the client’s chances of winning the case and what danger exists if an inappropriate answer is given?

What will be an ideal response?

Say that every case is different and that the office will do the best it can. Never give a
client any reason to believe you think the client will win, even if you do have this belief. An
expression of confidence in the outcome of a case might be interpreted as guarantee. A client
may have a breach-of-contract action against the office for failure to deliver what a court
later interprets was a promised or guaranteed result.
