How does personality explain criminality?
What will be an ideal response?
Some researchers suggest that crime is the result of personality characteristics. According to trait theory, personality is defined by the traits that comprise it and remains stable over time. Trait theory links personality and associated traits to behavior, and holds that an individual's personality, combined with the individual's intelligence and natural abilities, that determines behavior in given situation.
Modern trait theories have identified five basic traits: openness to experience, extraversion, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and agreeableness. The combination and degree of traits define an individual's personality. These traits form the basis of the Five Factor Model of psychology.
