Explain the meaning of self-love and how it contributes to a person's quality of life

Self-love does not mean being selfish or self-centered. Self-love includes believing oneself to be a worthwhile, loveable person who deserves to be cared for. These beliefs help one experience joy and happiness and to love others more fully. Self-love also increases the likelihood that one will take good care of one's body and will avoid self-destructive habits and unnecessary risks.
