Explain Jeffrey Fagan’s different types of gang typologies.

What will be an ideal response?

Jeffrey Fagan also identified four types of gangs based on his work in multiple urban areas, but he focused on gangs who have only drug involvement. Type 1 gangs use only alcohol and marijuana and participate in few other activities. Type 2 gangs are heavily involved in vandalism and drug sales, generally to support their individual habits. Type 3 gangs are involved in a variety of serious and nonviolent crimes but have less involvement in drug sales and use. Last, Type 4 gangs are at the highest risk of becoming a formal criminal organization. Members commit both serious and nonviolent offenses and are heavily involved in drug sales and drug use.
