Explain the three stages of the inquisitorial system found in Europe.

What will be an ideal response?

The inquisitorial system is comprised of three stages: the investigative phase, the examining phase, and the trial. In the investigative phase, the police investigate the crime. This is different from the United States in that the prosecutor is kept distant from the police investigation of the crime. In the investigation stage, the police compile the evidence that supports guilt as well as the evidence that supports a suspect’s (or suspects’) innocence.
