The gorge wall on the outside of some meander turns is noticeably steeper than the gorge walls on the inside of the meander turn. For example, see “Cottonwood Bottom” and the meander to the west of “Spring Canyon Point.” What might explain this? (Hint: Consider the processes of erosion associated with both meandering and entrenchment; before entrenchment, was the stream course directly above its current location?)
