Explain the Response to Intervention process.
What will be an ideal response?
Response to Intervention is designed to identify and help struggling readers with their particular areas of weakness. Tier 1 instruction describes effective classroom instruction by the classroom teacher. Assessment administered to all students identifies those who struggle, and those students are moved to Tier 2 for additional instruction in the classroom provided by a reading specialist that increases the intensity and focus of the instruction in addition to the Tier 1 instruction. Students who are still struggling in Tier 2 will be moved to Tier 3 instruction, where the group size decreases, students are often pulled out of the classroom for additional reading time, and the intervention is sharpened to meet individual needs.
