Distinguish between cliques and crowds.

What will be an ideal response?

Cliques are tightly knit peer groups of about five to seven members who are close friends. Like most close friends, members of cliques tend to share similarities such as demographics and attitudes. In contrast, crowds are not based on intimate friendships; rather, membership is based on adolescents' image or reputation among peers. Members of a crowd may or may not interact with one another. However, because of similarities in appearance, activities, and perceived attitudes, they are perceived by their peers as members of the same group.
