Discuss what can cause an accumulation of fluids in the brain
What will be an ideal response?
Blood escaping from blood vessels as a result of a head injury or a weakness in the wall of the artery (aneurysm) flows into brain tissue and surrounding spaces. This increases the intracranial pressure. Any disturbance of CSF production, circulation, or reabsorption may result in increased fluid volume and increased intracranial pressure. This can be caused by head injuries, tumors blocking the flow channels, or congenital defects restricting normal CSF circulation.
