Discuss the grievance procedure inmates might use to redress a disciplinary complaint brought against them
What will be an ideal response?
Inmates have the right to a formalized hearing regarding any violation of institutional rules that they are alleged to have violated. More specifically, an inmate can file a complaint with a hearing board that is empowered to resolve such matters. For example, if an inmate was being sent to solitary confinement as punishment, that inmate would have a right to a due process hearing. At this hearing, the inmate could present witnesses and present a case for defense of the alleged improper actions. Hence disciplinary actions involve formal written charges, an impartial hearing, and a written statement of the board's decision.
