Answers will vary, but students should demonstrate a knowledge of the Peloponnesian wars, Sparta's destruction of Athenian ports and crops, the Athenian refusal to fight, the attendant plagues, Sparta's defeat of the Athenian fleet and subjugation of the Athenians, the Athenian appeal to Persia, the rebuilding of the Athenian navy, and the intractability of the fighting. Greece was weakened as a result, and eventually submitted to the King's Peace of 387 B.C.E., which granted territories to the Perisans.
